Course summary
The program trains professional counselors to provide service to historically under-served populations in school and community settings. Through its unique ecological counseling focus, the counseling program continues its long history of leadership within the community and the profession.
Program modules
The student must be registered for a minimum of one credit hour in the academic year in which she or he intends to graduate. In addition, the student must notify the Counseling program coordinator one quarter prior to the quarter of intended graduation. If the student registers and does not graduate, she or he must reapply for graduation.
Entry requirement for international students
Minimum requirements for graduate admission are: Students should have a bachelors degree equivalent to a U.S. degree, as determined by the admitting UC college department. A minimum grade-point average (GPA) of 3.00 (out of 4.00) or foreign equivalent, as determined by the admitting department. If English is not the native language, English proficiency must be demonstrated. GRE is required for most fields. GMAT for some Business fields. The MBA program requires the GMAT. The MS in Business Administration (Accounting) and the MS in Business Administration (Tax) both require GMAT. The MS in Finance, Information Systems, Marketing and Quantitative Analysis will accept either the GMAT or GRE. Students should have ETS send GMAT or GRE scores directly to University of Cincinnati (the University of Cincinnati school code is 1833). English proficiency is required of all applicants whose native language is not English. Students can fulfill the English requirement by taking the Test of English as a Foreign Language (TOEFL) or the International English Language Testing System (IELTS). For IELTS, an overall band score of 6.5 is sufficient for graduate admission. For TOEFL, requirements vary. The minimum University requirement is: 520 (paper-based test), or 190 (computer-based test), or 68 (internet-based test).
