Course summary
The UCI Intern Teacher Credential Program offers an alternative route to earning a teaching credential to uniquely qualified candidates. Typically the program begins in the Spring and involves 5 quarters of study; including one quarter of pre-service teaching and coursework, one full summer session of coursework, and 3 quarters of employment as an Intern Teacher in a partner school district. Full participation in the program requires being selected by a school district for employment. Three credential specializations are currently offered: 1. Single Subject Math, 2. Single Subject Science-Biology, Physics, Chemistry and Earth Science, 3. Single Subject English. A strong background in one of these content areas as well as previous classroom teaching or related work experience is a factor in admission to the Intern Teaching Credential Program.
