Course summary
This program prepares students for technically sophisticated jobs with financial institutions, financial service providers, suppliers of financial consulting services, financial software and systems providers, and in corporate treasuries. It serves students seeking comprehensive technical knowledge of arbitrage, hedging, futures and options pricing, portfolio management, trading, and dynamic investment strategies in bond, currency, options and other financial markets.
Entry requirement for international students
Applicants must hold a four-year bachelor’s degree from an accredited college or university. While no specific undergraduate major is required, most students will have a degree in quantitative subject matters such as mathematics, engineering, computer science, physics, etc. Applicants who have attended institutions outside the United States should have completed 16 years of study, 12 of these at the elementary and secondary school levels and four at the college level. Evidence of strong quantitative skills is required of all candidates, regardless of undergraduate major. All candidates must demonstrate: Ability to do graduate-level business and finance course work; Capabilities that will contribute to the overall educational process of the class; Strong quantitative background including linear algebra, multivariate calculus, differential equations, numerical analysis, and advanced statistics and probability; Experience in computational programming and familiarity with computers as a computational and management tool; Excellent writing, speaking, and presentation ability in English; Work or research experience in a quantitative discipline; Experience with statistical and econometric applications (for example, SAS); Experience with mathematical tools (for example, Matlab). The GMAT or the GRE official scores are required. The TOEFL official score is required for international applicants.
