The university has seven residence halls on campus, three are for men only and four are for women only. Most students will share a room with one, two or three other students. There is also apartment-style housing for fourth-year undergraduates, graduate and international students on Grand Avenue and in Morrison Hall. Among international students, about half of the undergraduates live “on campus” (in University housing), while most graduate students live off campus, in private housing which they locate on their own. In order to get your first choice of buildings and rooms, you should apply for a room as soon as possible. Students who choose to live off campus can find housing in the safe, quiet residential area surrounding the St. Paul campus. The university maintains a list of rooms and apartments available in the vicinity. Off-campus living arrangements are usually more costly than on-campus alternatives. Sharing costs with a roommate may reduce expenses. One-bedroom apartments average $850 or more per month; houses are $1,400 to $1,600 per month.
