Entry requirement for international students
Applicant must have the equivalent of a four-year U.S. bachelors degree from an accredited institution. For applicants who attended undergraduate institutions in India, the University of Texas at Austin does not consider the Bachelors of Communication equivalent to a U.S. bachelors degree. Applicants holding this three-year degree are not eligible for admission to the graduate school programs. Students must have already completed (and have been awarded) a masters degree in India in addition to bachelors degree to be eligible for graduate study. Partial completion of the masters program will not make eligible for graduate programs. Applicants who hold Associate memberships with the Institute of Chartered Accountancy in addition to their bachelors degree are also eligible for graduate study at UT. Students are strongly encouraged to have at least two years of full-time work experience. This does not include working as student assistant (Teaching Assistant, Lab Assistant, Grader, etc). All applicants are required to submit official Graduate Management Admissions Test (GMAT) scores from ETS. Texas has no minimum score, but GMATs are an extremely important component of each application. Students whose native language is not English are required to demonstrate English language proficiency through acceptable TOEFL and GMAT (verbal) scores. (The TOEFL score is valid for two years from the exam date.) Applicants will be granted an automatic TOEFL waiver if they have earned an undergraduate degree in a country whose official language is English. Students are required to purchase a standard model laptop computer as defined by the McCombs School of Business before they begin the program. McCombs Orientation is mandatory for all new students without exception. Proficiency in calculus is expected of all MBA students.
