Course summary
This program provides interactive, multi-departmental education and research training. The graduates receive comprehensive education in molecular and cell biology, microbiology and immunology and in-depth training in their chosen area of research. The Ph.D. and M.D./Ph.D. students train in the laboratories of participating faculty in the Department of Microbiology and Immunology, Department of Medicine, Institute of Human Virology, Greenebaum Cancer Center, Center for Vaccine Development, Mucosal Biology Research Center, and Department of Biomedical Sciences in the Dental School. As part of the Graduate Program in Life Sciences at UMB, interaction between other graduate programs and departments facilitate broadening of the research experience and of graduate student life.
Entry requirement for international students
Students should have evidence of academic accomplishment (e.g. GPA). Students should have a minimum of bachelors’ degree in a relevant discipline, field of study or profession (e.g. biology, engineering, exercise physiology, exercise science, kinesiology, medicine, nursing, occupational therapy, physical therapy). Students should have obtained minimum TOEFL score of 550 for paper-based tests, 213 for computer-based tests, 80 for the internet-based tests and a minimum GRE scores, typically over 1000 for combined verbal and quantitative, or 1100 if either is less than 500.
