Course summary
This program balances the study of concepts and theory of computer science with the practical application of software engineering. This program teaches students to develop and use abstract models for analytic, descriptive, and predictive studies of real-world phenomena and systems. Students will be exposed to several primary research areas in computer science, such as distributed systems, database design, the object-oriented paradigm, and analysis of algorithms. Software engineering topics include requirements analysis, software design, and software verification and validation. Graduates will be qualified to analyze, design, and implement computer systems; manage software projects via planning, organization, scheduling, cost estimation, and process evaluation; and work in and lead teams that undertake all aspects of the software development process. The major core courses, electives, and project experience practicum provide further depth and an opportunity for specialization.
