Course summary
This specialization covers a wide range of health care management topics including managed care, policy, law, finance, quality improvement and other course work designed to enhance students ability to successfully guide and strengthen the delivery of health services to consumers. People who choose this specialization are often health care professionals who wish to pursue management or director positions in a variety of health care settings.
Program modules
Core modules include: HS5002 - Survey of Research in Human Development and Behavior, HS5006 - Survey of Research Methodology and HS5500 - Multicultural Issues in Health Care. Specialization modules include: HS5101 - Health Care Finance, HS5503 - Contexts and Models of Health, HS5506 - Managed Care and Health Services, HS5507 - Health Care Communication: Providers and Receivers, HS5504 - Quality Risk Management and Patient Safety, HS5100 - Health Care Management, HS5500 - Multicultural Issues in Health Care, HS5990 - Integrative Project for Human Services Learners.
Entry requirement for international students
Students must have completed bachelor's degree from an institution accredited by a U.S. Department of Education-recognized accrediting agency or an internationally recognized institution. They should possess a cumulative GPA of 2.3 from a bachelor's degree granting institution. International students whose language of instruction is not English are required to take one of the following tests: the Test of English as a Foreign Language (TOEFL) with a minimum acceptable score of 550 on paper-based test, 213 on computer-based test with a score of 4.0 or higher on the Test of Written English (TWE), or 79 on internet based examination; Michigan English Language Assessment Battery (MELAB) score of 80; International English Language Testing System (IELTS) with a score of 6.5; or Pearson Test of English (PTE) score of 59.
