Course summary
This curriculum covers topics such as eliciting and analyzing business needs, determining, developing, and communicating IT project requirements and implementing and monitoring IT solutions that meet business goals. Capella’s Business Analysis specialization provides a unique opportunity to develop these skills online. People who choose this specialization are often interested in pursuing staff or consulting positions as business or computer system analysts.

Core modules include: TS5004 - Technical Communications, TS5010 - Introduction to Enterprise Application Architecture, TS5011 - Managing People and Technology, TS5130 - System Development Theory and Practice, TS5160 - Business Foundations, TS5536 - Ethical and Legal Considerations in Information Technology. Specialization modules include: TS5341 - Requirements Discovery and Documentation, TS5342 - Solution Analysis and Modeling, TS5343 - Business Solution Assessment and Validation, TS5344 - Strategic Business Analysis, TS5345 - Business Modeling and TS5999 - Current Trends in Information Technology. Capstone module to be taken in the final quarter is TS5940 - Business Analysis Capstone - 4 quarter credits.
Entry requirement for international students
Students must have completed bachelor's degree from an institution accredited by a U.S. Department of Education-recognized accrediting agency or an internationally recognized institution. They should possess a cumulative GPA of 2.3 from a bachelor's degree granting institution. International students whose language of instruction is not English are required to take one of the following tests: the Test of English as a Foreign Language (TOEFL) with a minimum acceptable score of 550 on paper-based test, 213 on computer-based test with a score of 4.0 or higher on the Test of Written English (TWE), or 79 on internet based examination; Michigan English Language Assessment Battery (MELAB) score of 80; International English Language Testing System (IELTS) with a score of 6.5; or Pearson Test of English (PTE) score of 59.
