Course summary

This Enterprise Software Architecture specialization helps the students to analyze IT problems in distributed enterprises and refine their ability to design, propose, implement and manage solutions using technologies such as service-oriented architecture (SOA), distributed databases and Web services. Students will have access to Capella's Virtual Lab Environment, which allows students to develop and test technology projects in an environment that closely mirrors real-life settings. People who choose this specialization are often working IT professionals who want to pursue careers as systems architects, technical officers or software engineers.

Core modules include: TS5004 - Technical Communications, TS5010 - Introduction to Enterprise Application Architecture, TS5011 - Managing People and Technology, TS5130 - System Development Theory and Practice, TS5160 - Business Foundations, TS5536 - Ethical and Legal Considerations in Information Technology. Specialization courses include: TS5350 - Architectural Implementation, TS5351 - Architecture Requirements Analysis, TS5352 - Enterprise Database Systems, TS5353 - Enterprise Software Architecture Design, TS5354 - Enterprise Software Interface Design, TS5355 - Advanced Enterprise System Development, TS5356 - Advanced Application Development, TS5357 - Enterprise Software Architecture Quality Assurance, TS5999 - Current Trends in Information Technology. Capstone module to be taken in the final quarter is TS5950 - Enterprise Software Architecture Capstone - - 4 quarter credits.

Entry requirement for international students

Students must have completed bachelor's degree from an institution accredited by a U.S. Department of Education-recognized accrediting agency or an internationally recognized institution. They should possess a cumulative GPA of 2.3 from a bachelor's degree granting institution. International students whose language of instruction is not English are required to take one of the following tests: the Test of English as a Foreign Language (TOEFL) with a minimum acceptable score of 550 on paper-based test, 213 on computer-based test with a score of 4.0 or higher on the Test of Written English (TWE), or 79 on internet based examination; Michigan English Language Assessment Battery (MELAB) score of 80; International English Language Testing System (IELTS) with a score of 6.5; or Pearson Test of English (PTE) score of 59.
