The Department of Kinesiology, Health Promotion, and Recreation is one of four departments and serves the largest number of students in the College of Education. The department provides the highest quality of teaching and research in graduate and undergraduate kinesiology, health promotion, and recreation curricula. The academic Units represent a broad range of study such as: school and community health, driver traffic and safety, kinesiology pedagogy, kinesiology/sport administration, biomechanics, physiology of exercise, health/fitness management, history and philosophy of kinesiology, psychosocial aspects of sport, teacher behavior, leisure services management, social-psychological dimensions of leisure behavior, and therapeutic recreation.

The University of North Texas’ 14 residence halls provide students with a wide range of lifestyles. All-female, coed and upper-class halls offer a variety of learning opportunities. Most halls are specially modified to accommodate disabled students. The following list of halls that are available for accommodation Bruce Hall, Clark Hall, College Inn, Crumley Hall, Honors Hall, Kerr Hall, Legends Hall, Maple Hall, Mozart Square, Santa Fe Square, Traditions Hall, Victory Hall, West Hall. Each of these residence halls has its own personality, and various living-learning communities are available. The campus offers numerous options for eating healthy, including salads, sushi and low-fat entrees. Some dining halls provide vegan/vegetarian entrees. All unmarried undergraduate students who have graduated from high school the semester prior to enrolling at UNT, who have completed fewer than thirty (30) semester hours of university work (any hours completed while in high school not included in the thirty hours) and who enroll for nine or more semester hours are required to reside in university operated residence halls under a contractual room and board plan as long as space is available.
