The PhD in Human Resource Development program is designed to prepare researchers and practitioner leaders for a rapidly changing and culturally diverse United States population and workforce. The demographic shifts occurring today at unprecedented rates are changing the face of our communities and organizations. These shifts present challenges to Human Resource Development professionals who work in constantly changing businesses, industries, education, government, health care, and non-profit organizations. The educational objectives of the PhD in Human Resource Development are to prepare graduates to successfully perform in realms of leadership and research related to the field. The core courses of the PhD in Human Resource Development program provide the advanced theoretical and research framework for students. The Business Academy (a partnership of UT Tyler HRD scholars and business practitioners linking practice and research for the purpose of advancing organizational performance improvement through developing and unleashing human expertise) serves as a unique and critical mechanism for achieving the program objectives.
Entry requirement for international students
Admission Requirements: A graduate applicant must have a four – year master's degree or its U.S. equivalent from an accredited institution of higher learning. International students must be accepted to the graduate program before being admitted to the university. Most graduate programs require the Graduate Record Examination (GRE); however, the MBA program requires the Graduate Management Admission Test (GMAT); ETS for the Test of English as a Foreign Language (TOEFL), minimum score of 550 (paper) or 213 (computer) is required for admission for both undergraduate and graduate students.
