Course summary
This program on the profession of interior design as well as its history, theory and criticism. Research can focus on qualitative or quantitative analysis of design.

The following are the modules: DHE 532 Advanced Housing Design Studio (3 credits), DHE 534 Housing the Aging Population (3 credits), DHE 543 Studio III: Commercial Design (4 credits), DHE 561 History of the Near Environment I (4 credits), DHE 562 History of the Near Environment II (4 credits), DHE 564 Contemporary History of Interiors and Housing (3 credits), DHE 577 Fashion Theory (4 credits), DHE 582 Aesthetic and Perceptual Theories of the Near Environment (2 credits), DHE 585 Human Behavior and the Near Environment (3 credits), DHE 665 Theories and Methods in Historical/Cultural Research of the Near Environment (3 credits), DHE 685 Advanced Topics in Human Behavior and the Near Environment (3 credits).
Entry requirement for international students
Applicants must have a degree equivalent to a four-year U.S. bachelor's degree from an accredited college or university. A "B" average (3.00 GPA on a 4.00 scale) on the last two years of undergraduate work is required and any work completed thereafter. If the student has completed his or her baccalaureate degree in a country that is a signatory of the Bologna Declaration, then a baccalaureate degree of at least three years duration with a B average (equivalent 3.00 on a U.S. 4.00 grading scale) in the last two years, plus all subsequent graded course work is required or a baccalaureate degree of at least three years duration with a two-year (equivalent to 45-quarter credits) graduate degree. International applicants must have TOEFL scores as follows: Paper score of 550 (600); Internet (iBT) score of 80 (100) Minimum score of 18 on each section and IELTS score of 6.5.
