Massachusetts is a great university for one to fulfill their career goals. The professors are really helpful and good and my program is also structured very well.
Both GRE and TOEFL must be taken. I underwent a separate coaching class for GRE preparation and prepared for TOEFL on my own. I needed a F1 visa. Visa experience was fine, as the questions were simple and it did not take more than 2 minutes. It is easy to get tickets as the nearest airport is Boston Logan International Airport. Lufthansa was the airline carrier and it was good. I landed at Boston Logan International Airport. The university is almost one and a half hours away from the airport (approx. 90 miles). I was allowed two 21 kg baggage and a hand luggage. We have to pay for excess baggage. There were no issues at the port of entry. There was no Meet and Greet service at the airport. But, airport pickup will be provided by Indian Student Association members if requested.
One can get a GA, TA, RA if qualified which all your tuition expenses and other than that you can also get Half tuition waiver by International Programs Office.
The program is structured very well. The professors are really helpful and good.
I live off-campus, as on-campus accommodations are pretty expensive. The lecture halls are big and well maintained. The library is 23 storied building with a large number of student carrels for quiet study. All kinds of sport facilities are available. Getting an on-campus job is really easy and huge number of jobs are available. Winter is extremely cold, so be prepared. There is an Indian Student Association which conducts lot of social events.
There is a career services which is very helpful in giving career advice and connecting you with lot of companies. We have an alumni society and it is very active. We occasionally get mails from alumnis regarding job openings at their institution.
