The internship was nicely structure. We were offered a few projects by the professors, and we had to choose one of them based on our interests. It is a good growing university, with a lot of potential. The environment was very good; and as it was summer and we enjoyed at the beaches.
I got the internship through my department internship system. I landed at JFK airport, NY. It was around 20-25 miles from the institution. I went by Etihaad Airlines and the baggage allowed was: Two 22 kg baggage and one 12kg handbag. Excess baggage was allowed only with extra charges. There were no issues for immigration, it went pretty smoothly. There was no one to meet us from the university, which they had informed us before hand. So we had arranged for the same.
The internship was nicely structure. We were offered a few projects by the professors, and we had to choose one of them based on our interests. The professor was very helping and encouraging. The environment was very good with few PhDs in my lab with whom I learned a lot. There were no formal lectures. We had access to the libraries, the environment was great.
We had our own separate accommodation arrangement. We played basketball, football and went to Gymnasium also. The social scene was awesome, no formality, it was very open and friendly. The night life in New York is awesome. Well, it was summer and we enjoyed at the beaches.
