Embarking on a PhD relatively late in life, I am particularly grateful for the way in which my needs as a mature student were taken into account. When I left Exeter , it was not just the degree I took with me but a broad range of experience and skills that have helped me immensely in building my career.
As a Graduate Teaching Assistant in the department I was able to gain valuable teaching experience on postgraduate and undergraduate levels, and I always felt valued as a member of the team.
Right from the start, my supervision was tailored to the career I was aspiring to, and I was given the opportunity to work and publish with several colleagues within the department. Generous support of conference and project travel also helped me achieve my goals.
