ratingOverall experience

The experience was good because it taught highschool stuff in a totally different environment. There were no 'rules' and having to attend events. I think for many who don't like school, but want to complete their HSC, should do go to TAFE to do it. Its much more free and laid-back.

ratingSelection process and gaining admission

It was simple to get in. I had wanted to repeat my HSC as I did not get the marks I wanted to get into university, so I went to TAFE to do it. You just needed to have completed your school certificate.

ratingFunding and scholarships

I only had centerlink money during this period. When I got to university, I was able to apply for some scholarships.

ratingYour study experience

The course was the same as the HSC. We completed a certain number of units to qualify for the UAI. The teachers were very different to those at school, they did not try to exert their authority over us. Hours were about 20/week, which is shorter than a week a school. It was definitely value for money.

ratingYour life experience

The facilities were great. I took up physics and chemistry, and they had all the apparatus needed, just like at school. Fellow students were mostly young, those who had been kicked out of school but forced to do their HSC. Most did not have much aims or goals for their future.

ratingJob prospects

I'm saying the 'job prospects' are good, because re-doing my HSC at TAFE got me into the university and course that I wanted to do.
