As a trained paediatrician, and after three years spent working in rural Africa, I became aware of some of my weakest professional points. If I wanted to develop my career as a clinical researcher, I needed to sharpen my skills in epidemiology and statistics and acquire a structured and coherent approach to scientific questions, something that we clinicians often lack. I gained knowledge here.
LSHTM taught me the tools and methodology that I needed and allowed me to become autonomous. It was an intense but carefully guided process. Three things made this experience outstanding a primary international perspective, a unique expertise in teaching and a fabulous working atmosphere. It is not a coincidence that the School is one of the worlds leading institutions in international research. The academic element was further enriched by a diverse group that was homogeneous in its ambition to learn.
