The tafe is good and has a mix of international students. The staff are very friendly and I was helped in looking for accommodation when I first came to study. My advice to the students is that they should arrange things like accommodation, fees, weather info before coming to Melbourne, otherwise they will have problems.
I came here through a representative from my city. There are quite a few such agencies which send students abroad for studies. They assisted me in filing in the docs to get a student visa, they also arranged the IELTS test and some coaching sessions before the exam. It took me around 6 months because of IELTS result, and choosing the uni to study.
I did not get any scholarship and I don’t think there is scholarship for international students studying my course.
I am studying associate degree in hospitality, I enjoyed the bits when I first came but later we started to get assignments and this made it hard. I would say that they teachers have always been there to help the students from my point of view. I think this is a good course.
I live with my Indian friends, we have a house here. Living together is much cheaper and helps save money. I also like the facilities because we have all basic facilities required in a house. I am working close to my home, I am quite lucky in that case. We friends go to movies sometimes or drive late nights if we are free. Rest of the time, we just stay at home, watch movies, internet or go to work/college. I haven’t joined the clubs at my institute because I don’t have much info about it.
I am planning to move to another city, I enjoyed Melbourne but I want to experience other cities too. I will continue towards my bachelors degree. Yes, this course can help me get a good job provided I do well.
