It is such an awesome experience here if you know how to live your student life to the fullest. I love my Medical and Masters degree here. It is worth every penny. Melbourne is a multiculturalistic living. Never feel home sick with so many of your own kind walking around. You get everything here. Once you have lived in Melbourne you would never want to go anywhere (even in Australia).

Just the ILETS was asked for. So I had to prepare for IELTS. I downloaded a few exercises from the internet and practiced at home. No other exams were needed as a part of the admissions. It was purely based on merit and eligibility. I had not used any agents or counselors. I directly applied to the university and the application was processed in two weeks. I had to take up a student visa just like any other overseas student would. I applied for electronic visa so no interview. Differs from country to country. For a US visa you do need to go for long tiring interview. Assessment is totally different for oceanics. I always love Emirates it has the best seats and most comfortable travel plans. I flew half way with Singapore airlines. It is also very good just because they could give me extra baggage and a student concession. I landed in Tullamarine airport in Melbourne which is the international airport. There are various modes of transport to reach city like shuttle or buses. From the city it is always good to take trains as big baggage not allowed in passenger buses. I stay in Clayton suburb which is about 45 mins from the city. Also uni pays for the taxi fares and pick ups. I think the first one is esp. Free of charge. The other trips should be about really cheap. Airport shuttle buses are also very cheap, only about 12 AUD one way.

I love my Medical and Masters degree here. It is worth every penny. Keeps you going and your brain active. Monash Uni libraries are one of the largest nation wide. Mathewson lib has A-Z collection on everything to do with literature, arts and general sci., political sci. and other subjects. Hargrave Andrew lib has the best in maths, science and medical subjects (and of course others as well).

In Australia student accommodation is not worth it. Just rent a house or an apt with friends outside if you are very particular with whom you want to live. If not just look for share accommodation. It will be cheap and you get plenty of great houses. Australians love their internet. Anything from grocery shopping till taking notes from the previous class attended is all available on the internet. So everything is here user friendly and also available to everyone. No partiality or racism (in ref. to Melbourne). Every uni here has a society and student association which helps all students from all nationality. They just about deal with anything and everything. Also the social life with the uni associations is pretty great. They arrange balls, dandia nights, theatres, plays, dramas, Indian nights, Chinese new yr celebrations and so many other events. There are so many clubs and so many activities to participate in. This makes sure that students far from home find new faces in new places and have a ball and form new friendships. Social life in Melbourne is not uni clubs you have a very highlighting night life with so many clubs and pubs. Experience is one of a kind when you go dancing with your friends, and of course for people who enjoy a drink or two there are various wineyards and social pubs that provide with so many elixirs. Monash also has a sports arena and a gym. Join in training, to be a kickboxer with me! ;) … i love playing squash with a few of friends.

Universities offer placement depending on what course you do. There is a committee “careers and employment” at Monash uni which would best suit your questions. All you have to do is make an appointment and they will help you with all the available options starting from “how to make you own cv?”, “getting you a job” and so many other things involved.
