i have enjoyed my time at university the experience was overall positive. The classes that i had attented were really interesting (especially management and marketing subjects as i found the lecturers really knew their stuff and presented it in such a way that i understood it and wanted to learn more - keep attending their classes) When the new library was opened this year the services greatly improved and it was way more enjoyable to go there and study surf the net (when you were able to get a computer) meet up with a study group (much better group atmosphere). The grounds were also great to lounge around between classes meet up with friends or just have a quick nap. The mix of trees ponds birds and other people made for a great relaxed atmosphere - always something going on. lots of coffee places and good mix of food (can somtimes find a bargain!) the people ive met are cool too! lots of local interstate Sydneysiders and international students to meet. all in all a positive experience

i applied through UAC with my UAI straight from my HSC. My course was part uni and part TAFE with a limited number of spots - i had earned the appropriate UAI so i dont feel the application/selection process was too difficult (i was accepted and i agreed to take the place). i had applied for a whole range of courses so thats what my advice would be pick a number of possible subjects to cover your bases and if you dont get what you wanted talk to the advisors/coordinators/sub deans to see what your options are in changing after a semester.

i beleive there are those that you have to write an essay application for. im not too sure about these as i have not applied for them. But there was one called EdStart that i found out through a uni email alert that would award the appropriate applicants (in this case low income students) $500 in textbooks and printing for the year. for those students recieving centrelink income this is a great way to ease the textbook woes at the begining of semester (note if studying fulltime it does not quite stretch the whole year)

Commerce degree subjects at wollongong uni are pretty good in my opinion. the lecturers and tutors are really knowledgable in their respective feilds and genuwinely want to help (thats what i have felt from all that i have encountered). It is good value for money (a friend has been at uni for the same period as myself doing a science degree and her HECs debt is double mine) my course was pretty structured in what subjects i had to do but for anyone doing a commerce degree where you have electives choose subjects your interested in and those that sound interesting - because you have to be there for 13 weeks do something you like.

i've lived in the Wollongong area my whole life so ive always enjoyed it although i may take the little things for granted or just not see them - something perhaps someone from not around here may be able to pick up on. Studying so close to home i get the opportunity to live at home. but the study facilities that the uni provides at the library and outdoor lawns - i found myself spending much of my time on campus. if you are motivated it is possible to find part time work within the wollongong area.

Employers like to employ people who have studied at the University of Wollongong thus i do believe my job prospects have increased because of my studies. the Careers Service on campus is an valuable source of job opportunities and they can help you with everything from resume writing to interview skills.
