The facilities are great and the campus is really nice and easy to get to using the new train station. There is always lots of social events, especially during O-Week and heaps of awesome clubs to join - it makes your uni experience so much more enjoyable to participate in such activities. One of the most impressive aspects of studying at Macquarie is the Global Leadership Program (GLP), which is free and open to any student and gives them the opportunity to undertake a program consisting of work/volunteer experience, various colloquia and workshops on such things as cross cultural communication, business ettiquete, leadeship, global security etc and also a distinguished speaker series in which renowned speakers come to talk to all GLP members in a formal function held each semester. The new library is also being built and it looks impressive too.

I was admitted by transferring from another University. The B International Studies is relatively competitive (about 81 ATAR) so I needed to spend a year studying Arts and receiving a credit average at another university before I was accepted.

This is one of the best aspects of studying at Macquarie. The University runs the largest exchange program in Australia and also offers guaranteed scholarships to all students who go on exchange. In 2010, I will be receiving $2500 cash to go to China for a semester. The uni offers up to $4500 for students going to Europe, USA and Japan. This is a HUGE bonus for anyone interested in studying another language or the Bachelor of International Studies and was a decisive factor for me when I decided to do the degree at Macquarie.

The Bachelor of International Studies it Macquarie is very innovative and offers a great deal more than most other similar courses at other Universities in Sydney. There is a a really good internship program specifically for the degree and Macquarie has the largest amount of exchange partners in Australia. Also the amount of languages on offer is massive and one of the most extensive in Australia too.

The University doesn't benefit from an inner-city vibe that you get from a CBD university, however there is a real sense of professional academic and business activity in the surrounding Macquarie Park area. The transport is also very good and the adjacent Macquarie Shopping Centre has just about every store you would ever want or need and also a few good restaurants. The student Union is a weakness of the university that needs to be addressed unfortunately. The clubs and societies are varied and active.

Yes, very much so. I believe the compulsory exchange, internship and GLP program make the Macquarie Bachelor of International Studies degree very competitive in the job market. No other International Studies course offers all of these opportunities.
