Great supervisors for my honours research project and good access to facilities such as 4WDs when I needed them though it worked out cheaper to buy/hire things privately. Other students in the research group were excellent and were always willing to provide support and advice.

ratingSelection process and gaining admission

Not having any experience with the university beforehand I selected an interesting supervisor and project from the online honours manual set up a meeting and applied. It was very straightforward.

ratingFunding and scholarships

My supervisors had arranged for one grant. They also suggested another that I applied for by modifying the original project proposal to suit and I was successful in receiving it.

ratingYour study experience

The coursework was very valuable as one subject had a practical component and dealt with topics similar to what I required for my own research. The other subjects were interesting but didn't occupy so much time as to distract from my research. I had a lot of freedom to manage organise and work on my project as I wished and learned a lot from the experience.

ratingYour life experience

I didn't take advantage of many of the university's other facilities as my field work component kept me away for weeks at a time but the campus is in a nice setting and the bus commute gave me plenty of time to read papers.

ratingJob prospects

I feel much more confident in being able to work effectively in my field compared to when I completed my B.Sc. I plan to start a PhD rather than seek work though. The university offers job services and career fairs but I didn't take advantage of them as I was not seeking work.
