I love it at uni. There's people from all over Sydney (and out of Sydney too) that I would never have had the chance to meet if i hadn't gone to uni. Admittedly I don't get to meet a lot of people outside the North Shore because I know so many people around my area but I think it's so much fun to be able to be friends with everyone else. :) The campus is nice and easy to get to as well by train from near my house.

All I had to do was apply through UAC when i was in year 12. By putting it as my first preference I was offred a first round offer and it was simple I just had to log onto the internet to accept the offer and I was set. Picked some dates for orientaion and enrolment and that was it.

There were a few different scholarships I could've applied for. Unfortunately I was away on the interview dates so I was unable to actually apply for them. I'm currently in a Commonwelath-supported place which means the governemtn pays for my uni until I make enough money for them to take it out of my tax. This is called a HELP debt. Easy to apply for in my Student Admin which i log on to to enrol for my subjects and see my timetable etc.

I am really enjoying my uni course. I'm in my first year at the moment and even though I'm a girl and its a male-dominated course (Engineering) I don't feel out of place. Everyone's just heaps fun and my faculty organised an orientation camp at the beginning of the year so that when everyone went into the first lecture everyone knew people it was really great. The subjects I'm doing at the moment are all core subjects and pretty basic I'm really hanging out for when I start to do really course-focussed subjects. The lecturers are good but the tutors are better but only because the tutors are the ones you can really talk to one on one if you have troubles becuase you see them in a more classroom environment. If someone was thinking of doing engineering I'd definitely recommend it. It's got great atmosphere and awesome credibility after you've graduated especially if you do the diploma in Engineering Practice.

My uni is in the middle of the city right near Central station so it's soooo easy to get to! And when I have huge breaks its easy for me to go to the movies or shopping if I want. The campus is good there's places to eat a place to drink (ha) and a newsagency type thing for stationery and stuff. The cafe is good too. I don't live on campus since it's easy for me to get to by train. I have a casual retail job and a reception job for my days off so I can still have a bit of money.

I've chosen to be an engineer and tehy are in quite high demand at the moment so hopefully it will be easy enough for me to get a job once I finish my course. I have to do two six-month internships as part of my course so hopefully i can get a job through them at the end.
