I enjoyed my stint at CMU. I liked the atmosphere at CMU which is a mixed one- fun and studies!! I gets cold out here so be prepared for the winter.

ratingSelection process and gaining admission

Getting an admit in CMU is never easy. I took the GRE and TOEFL exams and then had to apply for a visa. The visa interview went smoothly partly because I was going to CMU and partly because I had all the necessary papers. Tip for visa interview: be precise and clear.

ratingYour study experience

The requirement is to do 4 courses per semester. This makes the workload tough. Nevertheless careful planning can make you enjoy during weekends. The faculty here is nice and easily approachable. The facilities are state of the art technology. There is a scholarship for MS students which is about 35% of the tuition fees. I felt the exposure I got here was worth the money. Academic advice : time management is important and careful course selection.

The facilities are good and cater to the needs of the students. The best part is that my department organizes canoe and ice skiing trips which are so much fun and enjoyment. The student clubs are very active on campus and hold many sessions like game nights etc. The accommodation depends on the locality. Normally students stay in Squirrel hill or Shady Side neighborhoods. These are supposedly safe places and nearby localities to the school.
