For an international student to survive here without a job is very hard. He cannot enjoy the life here. Money matters. My advice is that when you come here have your savings arranged in case you might need it and don’t rely on getting job here as soon as you arrive.
I come from mauritus, I studied there. For my visa application, I lodged it to an agent in Mauritius and after I got coe confirmed, I went to Australian visa office . IT took me less than 30 days to get my visa.
At the time of enrolling I had no time to apply for student scholarship because I was busy with other things. Now, after having come over here. There is lot of scholarship, I will apply after I complete my first semester. I also think, if you don’t have good scores, you will not get it.
I was studying nursing before, I wanted to go to London to study nursing but I had bad experience with it. Some of my friends who are studying there recommended me not to study there because a lot of institutes were closing down. I am studying community welfare here and I like my studies here. Our classes are never boring. We have to mix in groups and have to interact. We are taken outside the campus also. The life is good here for a student and the teachers are good too.
So far, the only problem that I have is the transport problem. I have to travel very long to get to my uni. I live close to the city and I work in the city, so it’s a bit hard for me. The locals are nice and I hope that as soon as I complete a semester I will get employed in community welfare sector and not just hospitality. The living costs are high, the eating habits should be monitored because there are lot of takeaway shops and restaurant and you can lose money easily just on food and drinks. We also have clubs but they are very small but they are active. I don’t know about other campuses because we have about 3 campuses.
I think the job prospects are very good and I hope to get employed. I will also keep in touch with my classmates.
