First off Lowell is a beautiful place. Calm,peaceful and lot of greenery. It may not be as happening as other cities but i would say it would make a good study place. The seniors insist that you will get bored of this place in a years time but then Boston is just a 40 min drive and almost all of them have cars here.SO you can either get along with your seniors or buy urself a car in a years time. And Boston is totally happening. SO if you ever want to freak out you can always travel across to Boston(there are pretty good train and bus services too). Housing is not a problem here. You will find one soon enough. Not much of desi's so not really much competition. But the on campus jobs is difficult. They are few. But i am here early and if i am lucky i might get one. Off campus is not a problem though. I am for the Computer Science department and the funding scene is terrible. The feed back i got from the seniors is that the department is tough but there are some really good professors here. So you can defintely learn a lot. Internship is not that difficult. The job scene for CS is very good and you should get one easily.
