The internship was well structured. My advisor was helpful and encouraging and I was introduced to new fields of engineering and research.
I landed at Teh Chicago O'Hare Airport. It was approximately 120 miles from the university. Baggage upto 64 kgs was allowed, which was sufficient for my needs. Immigration check was simple. The university did not offer any 'meet and greet' service at the airport. I had to catch a bus to get to the university.
The internship was well structured. I was a part of a program which included 17 other students from various universities and different departments. This brought diversity to our intern group meetings. My advisor was helpful and encouraging. Other professors presented glimpses of their research at intern group meetings which introduced me to new fields of engineering and research. All conference rooms, labs and libraries were well equipped.
I lived in a self-leased apartment with two other interns from my institute and a graduate student. In general the social scene was not good as often the campus looked deserted during the summer vacations. The weather was pleasant, with sporadic downpours.
