I came to Singapore, at the age of 17, quitting my 12th, on a scholarship. It was a different route I opted for, had a 3 yr compulsory work bond after that and an offer for PR here. I did a diploma in manufacturing engineering at Nanyang Polytechnic.
I had a very bad experienced with an agent. My friend's dad was associated with that agent and I sort his help. There was some problem with my job in Singapore. I was demoralized I was discriminated in my first job and made to works hours on end. My next job was also a problem, I was sent off in 23 days. I now had a total work exp. of about 2 months. Then the next 7 months, I dint work anywhere full time, I was worried of losing my job again. I supported myself by teaching tuitions. The agent then asked me to work for him part-time. I picked students up from the airport worked on their visa formalities and all that. Student visas for Singapore are done here. Working with this agent I realized that for the sake of commission the guy gave them false information as well.
Foreign students coming to study at Private colleges are not allowed to work part-time, but tuitions does not require any permit and u can make good money out of it..
After a bad experience with a consulting agent I decided that the best way to help students would be to start my own consultancy business. I started my company Singapore Worldwide Student placements. I made tie ups with colleges when I went to UK to finish my course, networks grew, got lawyers, auditors in UK, USA, Canada, Australia to help me out, so got into the immigration, business as well.
