Edith Cowan University is the only university in Western Australia to offer the specialist areas of Forensic Psychology and Community Psychology as well as Clinical Psychology and this is the main reason why I chose to do my PhD in ECU.
It will probably be easier to get in with honors or a relevant master degree. Some assistance I had was during Open day, I went to ask around for course information. Open day is a good time to find out about the coursework and application procedures.
I'm not too sure about other funding opportunities as I paid for the tuition fees myself. I had worked several years and I supported my studies through the salary I earned.
This course is sure interesting. I am specialize in the area of Community Psychology.I must say this course is rather long, a 4 year duration and requires alot of research and discipline. I'm glad ECU has provided adequate study support for me.
I used to study in Sydney and I find Perth to be very different from the other cities in Australia. People over here are more accepting towards other races and the locals here are very friendly. Accommodation is cheaper over here than in other states and it is value for money. Perth is more quiet than other Sydney but I also feel it is safer and great.
A Phd definitely helps to increase job prospects and I will join the alumni after my graduation.
