ratingOverall experience

I chose UNSW to pursue my studies because this is the best Uni in terms of engineering in Australia. The best advice I would give to students is that Engineering is a very tough discipline. You should spend a lot of time on studying. However, at the same time you should participate into extra-curricular activities, so that you can have many friends and have some social skills, which are good for your future career.

ratingSelection process and gaining admission

The selection process is pretty tough because of this discipline (Engineering). I already received my Master in Vietnam, so now I had enough qualifications for my PhD studies. In order to have a stress-free application and enrolment process, I just followed the instructions by the admin staff.

ratingFunding and scholarships

I had a scholarship from my employer (the Ministry of Education and Training from Vietnam). Upon graduation, I had to come back and serve in the system.

ratingYour study experience

Lab work is a very tough. The best bits are that I could have the opportunity to interact with other overseas students who I played soccer every weekend. I received all kinds of support that I needed. The course is very value for money.As I am a PhD student, I just worked with my supervisors. I did not have lecturers and tutors. In the first few semesters, Uni asked me to take some courses like Research methods, and some courses in Statistics.

The university facilities are very good. I enjoyed local area so much. Sydney is a very big city so there are a lot of tourists coming here. I had a part time job in a coffee shop and I also worked as a tutor for uni. I joined some clubs and societies.

ratingJob prospects

My job prospects will increase thanks to my studies. I am still doing my PhD at the moment. I will definitely join the alumni association.
