JCU is famous for marine studies. First time I got to know about JCU, was when I was looking for information on coral reef studies and, of course, marine studies, in general.
I also got more information from my colleagues who previously graduated from JCU. However, the thing that encouraged me most was the study on pearl oyster offered by the University which was very difficult to get in Japan (The first innovation in pearl culture was from Japan, but the regulation made by the Japanese government restricts people from outside the country to study pearls). My supervisor was very supportive to provide me information I needed. The academic atmosphere in JCU is great. While doing research, it is easy to get in touch with experts that may support my study. Retrieving information from library databases is also great. This is one of important factors for research students.
