I came here with no knowledge of English so I took an English course at TAFE first. The course really helped me to study at TAFE, particularly with more formal language. I can pick up slang in the street, but the English course really helped me to understand and write more academically.

I chose Surveying because I enjoy maths. I really liked the combination of maths, fieldwork and practical work in the course. The thing I liked best about the course was the Surveying Camps – we had 3. We had the freedom to choose our own approach to the assignments and worked in teams so we really got to know one another – it was fantastic working with my Australian classmates. This teamwork is great preparation for working life.

Now I am working for quite a big surveying company with 3 offices in Sydney. The Head Teacher at Sydney Institute helped me find this job and I worked part time while I was studying. Now the company is sponsoring me so that I can stay in Australia.
