I completed PhD from the University of Maryland in 2008. The thesis title is Recognition and matching in the presence of deformation and lighting change. Studying in the US is a great opportunity, one that I will treasure my whole life. This is a good place to study as the research facilities are superb.
I was awarded the teaching assistantship by the university. I was also awarded the Deans fellowship (2008-09) by the University.
My research interests include object recognition and detection, image segmentation, medical image processing, pattern recognition and machine learning algorithms. I started a part of my PhD in my Masters itself at the University of Maryland. My advisor was David Jacobs who also continued to be my advisor for the Doctorate program. This was really good for me as I had developed a good rapport with him and was able to work well.
I won the Second prize (team) in the 2006 University of Maryland business plan competition (young alumni category) for VFore: a content based photo organizer. I also had the opportunity to publish while at the university and take part in Talks. One has the opportunity to shine in various fields here..I enjoyed my time here.
I am currently working as a Research Assistant Professor at Toyota Technological Institute, Chicago.
