Mechanical Engineering and Mechanics is a very interesting, application based field. The scope for research is tremendous. But International Students should not rely on paying their tuition fees through part time jobs as the options are limited. The city is good, quite comfortable. Winters are very cold because it snows here. I will suggest buying woolen jackets from there only.
I appeared for SATs and TOEFL for the admission. I prepared for these tests using good reference books like Barrons, The Princeton Review, Kaplans etc. I needed an F1 student visa. My visa interview experience was a good one one just has to convince the Consular officer of coming back to ones home country after completion of the degree the process is really easy. I flew in the British Airways. The airlines offered a student concession. I landed at Philadelphia International Airport. Not much problem with immigration; just be polite and keep smiling. The University had arranged for transport from the Airport to Campus for all arriving international students.
The University offers a number of scholarships and waivers including the A.J. Drexel Scholarship, Sports Scholarship, Deans Scholarship etc. Also, Family Grant, Alumni Grant etc are also available. I have been awarded the Deans Scholarship and Endowed Grant by the University. The University grants this scholarship on the basis of academic merit and extra curricular involvement.
Mechanical Engineering and Mechanics is a very interesting, application based field. The scope for research is tremendous. The professors are very helpful and quite okay.
I am living off campus. There are a limited no. of part time jobs available to international students. International Students should thus not rely on paying their tuition fees through part time jobs. The city is good, quite comfortable. Winters are very cold because it snows here. I will suggest buying woolen jackets from there only. The International Students and Scholars Services (ISSS) office takes care of all the needs of international students.
Being trained to work is the best part of my course. The assignments are things you want to do because it's something you may do in future, eg. a job analysis. You see the professional development benefit of it. Lecturers are all nice, and genuinely want to make you a good org psych. The classes are smaller, so you get that more personal help and support (no sneaking through the door late and being unnoticed). Best thing too is that they've worked before, not just academics, so you benefit from their advice and experience. You also get lots of assessment access.
