I'm 19 years old and the last year has probably been one of the best one's of my life!! 2nd year's just getting better and better! The pressure here sure is immense, in terms of academics. Come to think of it, why wouldn't it be immense? Exeter's the 2nd best University of Accounting and Finance, taking some modules provide exemptions for exams in that of the ACA, ACCA and other professional qualifications. What makes life easier here? The support!!! No matter what problem one may have, there's always someone there to help! From academic to personal to professional, you name it! Extra curricular activities: The university has about 150 societies ranging from anything like chocolates to academic subjects to martial arts to media!! Taking part in these activities, attending workshops and seminars organised by the university and coping with academic work all together can make one a master of time management! When I came here, I realised that I can either have a 12 hour week or a 12 hour day; fortunately for me, I took the latter option! While this may need me to sacrifise food and sleep, it's completely worth it! The experience I'm getting is something that I probably won't get anywhere else! People sure are right when they say... "Exeter... Probably the best university in the world". All the lecturers have Phds, some are authors, some have held high posts in firms like Deloitte..! Think about it... you're being taught by people who've made it big in the field! They probably know everything you need to know to make it big! What could be improved? Perhaps the fee structure. While the standards of education at Exeter are really high, it would probably be better if the fees were a little lesser..! But that wouldn't be something Exeter alone could improve... Universities in general could reduce the fees! My advice to students... Be rational in your thinking! Don't be penny wise, pound foolish. In other words, spend wisely on things you need; don't compromise on your basic necessities. If you really want to save, cut back on things like clubbing, drinking, etc! Well... not completely because you should have fun while you're here! "All work and no play makes Jack a dull boy!" Oh boy... could I be any more geeky?! lol.. All I can really say is, come here with a positive attitude and you'll take back a LOT!! You'll get a lot more value for your money. English people are very friendly, always willing to help in whichever way they can. Don't carry things like utensils, too many warm clothes, etc. The university has the 'student re-use' project in which students give things they don't need to new students. There are LOADS of things you can get for FREE!! Now sure, they're not new, but they can still do the same things that a new one would do! Please don't carry too many stationery items, food items, etc... it's all available here!! Oh... Oh...!! Exeter's really hilly!! So bring some good shoes, and be ready to walk a lot! It's a beautiful city, lot of greenery, and while it's small, the university campus is HUGE!!! The city's got everything you would need, including an Indian shop..! Finally, if you're an undergraduate, you're spending £10,000 a year; if you're a postgrad, you're spending anything between £15,000 and £20,000. The stakes are high, and everything is in your hands! It's up to you whether you want to make your life, or break it!! I don't mean to sound all serious and lecture to you..!! Just thought I'd let you know, because I have heard of cases of people going astray..!! But I'm sure you won't...!! Because you're going to Exeter!!!!! yayyyyyyyyyyy!! You're gonna have the time of your life!!!

I got in touch with the 'Chopra's', an agency, who organised 'Global meet' in which, more than 100 universities came together under 1 roof, giving students the opportunity to apply! I had heard about UCAS where I would need to pick 5 universities, but then Chopra's mentioned another scheme where I can apply to just one university as long as I give my commitment to that uni, and the uni is willing to accept me. I chose Exeter!!! It was a really friendly interview; Jim Myton (the person who interviewed me) told me all about the university and what they could offer me. I was thrilled, Jim was happy to give me an offer, and then I was jumping with joy..!! The visa process was really simple; Chopra's handled everything, and gave me all the information I needed! I travelled with British Airways... sigh! I'd rather not comment on that..!! All I can say is that you maybe better off flying with Jet Airways or Kingfisher!

There are a couple of scholarships available. I was eligible for some of them, but sadly, I was too late to apply for them. My advise... work hard and get the grades required for the scholarship and then apply for one well in time!

I think I've already covered most of these aspects in question 1, but none-the-less, I'll go through them a bit more..!! Lectures and tutorial hours vary from about 8-12 hours a week..! Don't start jumping yet!! You're expected to do your own work in the remaining time! This work could include tutorial work, reading, revising, or maybe even research! Time management is KEY. Do NOT turn up late for lectures, tutorials, meetings, seminars, etc. English people are VERY punctual, and while they're really polite and won't say anything to you if you turn up late, they would probably respect you more if you DID turn up on time! Value for money... like I said, it would be nice if the fees were lesser. But how can one get more value for their money? Answer: Attend skills sessions, presentations, workshops and seminars organised by the Business School and the Careers Service. Outside the university, some of these events could cost anything between £100 and £1,000. In the university, it's FREE!!! Main facility that I use... The library!! It's open 24 hours a day, 7 days a week; 100's of thousands of books, millions of journals, thousands of DVDs, and if there's something you're looking but it isn't there, you could send a suggestion and they'll try and get it for you! Academic advice... get ready to slog!!! It is hard work, you know that..! You have to accept it... this will take you far ahead in life; it's worth all the hard work, you've got all the resources you need..! Keep up with your work and you'll be fine!

Again, I've covered a lot of these in question 1. Nearest city?? Well... the beach is in Exmouth, which is about 20 minutes away, by train. Most interesting things to do.. depends on you, really! There are 150 societies you could get involved with; if you can't find one that interests you, you're more than welcome to start your own society! Accomodation; the cheapest... Lafrowda!!!!!! I met some of the nicest people there, and am still great friends with them! There were 12 of us living together, and we really did have a blast!! It cost me about £65 per week..!! :) Part time jobs are available; competition for them is quite fierce... think about it..! 14,000 students, relatively small city! I'm sure you'll find one though! The university can help you get one..! "Do you have any insider information to share about the best kept secrets?" ha ha ha ha ha!! This question really is cheesy!! I'm not so much of a "secret" person..! Student union's fantastic; you're encouraged to join the union..!! :) They're always looking for ways to improve student life! All the money made by the guid is re-used to try and make your university experience better! There is an international society, which I would recommend you join..! There is also an Asian Society, which is also a good one!

Oooohhh..!! Job! This one's important to everyone, isn't it!! The university's rankings are really good; it's a reputed uni, employers keep coming down for presentations and career fairs so logically, this should increase your probability to get a job! All the details you need in order to get a job will be given to you by The Careers and Employability Service. The university also has an employability officer, who is a lovely person! She's very friendly, and is always willing to help students!
