The MBA helped lay a solid foundation. It helped foster my professional as well as personal growth.
One of the main advantages of the Glasgow MBA is the group work that promotes a collaborative culture. The teams were diverse internationally, and the assignments helped to promote the concepts of time and people management, as well as giving participants a better. This is important in today's corporate world where everything is global, and we have to work with teams that are spread across the globe. The MBA helped lay a solid foundation for this.
As part of my current job I work with clients and teams from all over the world, and my exposure to different cultures has made it is easier to establish business relationships. Staying ahead of the learning curve is always a benefit. For example one of my British clients was pleasantly surprised to learn that I still followed English football even though I am based in New York. It accelerated the getting familiar process and now most of that Client's emails to me start with scores from the English football premiership. Some of the principles like time management now also apply to my private life and help me to achieve a work/life balance.
I am with Citigroup Product Management in New York. The group I work for is involved in facilitating the raising of short-term debt for global organisations, escrow, structured finance and project finance. My role involves working on the development of new products for Securities Services, working closely with trading, operations, technology, legal, risk, and compliance for product management and development. I also liaise with marketing, sales, and clients to dimension and orchestrate implementation of new products globally. The MBA was instrumental in getting my present position. Along with relevant work experience, one of the pre-requisites was having an MBA. I manage a global team and we have to adhere to strict deadlines. Effective time-management was one of the great learning experiences at Glasgow Business School and it has had a positive impact on how I manage teams as well as projects.
