Staff and other students make you feel very welcome and the lecturers are very approachable. Don't feel afraid to ask for help from the student peer mentors!
The selection process was moderately strict - but, hey, it is worth it.
I found out about the scholarships and financial loans information from the Griffith University website (under Scholarships - International Students; plus also look under Australian Scholarships). There are a number of academic awards too.
The lecturers are great, especially some of the first year teachers (Dr. Ann is cool!!). Yes, the course is value for money - but don't forget, you have to study hard to do well and make it worthwhile. I studied about 12 hours per week. You also have about 130 hours of Biomedical Science practical (laboratory) experience over the 3 years of the degree.
Griffith University, Nathan Campus, is about 10 mins from the sub-tropical city of Brisbane. The campus is also very close to a very large shopping centre complex nearby called Garden City. Buses come and go from the campus to the Brisbane City centre and to Garden City shops every 15-30mins. The accomodation can be found in on campus (college residences), or in the very safe, affordable, modern, flats and share-apartments in the surrounding suburbs of Nathan, Sunnybank, Robertson, Mt Gravatt, Salisbury and Tarragindi.
Yes, I do believe my life has changed as a result of doing Biomed. Sci at Griffith University. All graduates are invited to become members of the alumni after graduation, plus I am a member of the Griffith Biomedical Science Facebook (Nathan) site. I am now a lecturer in biomed.
