I started the BA Business Studies Degree September 2005 and began working part time as an Admin Assistant to fund my socialising (and occasional text book purchasing). I liked the fact that the business school felt as if it were run separately to the main campus as it meant that study rooms and equipment were almost always available. The only criticism I have is that it would have been better if more core books central to the course were available in the library, particularly around exam time these books were out on loan. I think that all books in the library should be reference only and not taken out on loan. This way, students would have better access, books wouldn't be lost nor would they be renewed for weeks/months at a time to the detriment of other library users.

The lecturers on the course were always available should you need help - both with academic or personal issues. I found that they treated students as equals and were never patronizing. I now write this whilst sat at my desk (in a job that I love) but feeling very envious of prospective students reading this as I know that they have a great experience waiting for them at Plymouth.

Uni Life is exactly that ….life….Full of ups and downs (hopefully more ups), relationships, happiness, fear, panic, hangovers, dodgy cookery techniques, good grades and not so good grades but all of this leads to your graduation.

During my Placement year I worked for Sony at the Sony Professional Europe headquarters. Having achieved average - good results at Uni I thought I didn't stand a chance at securing the placement, however that also made me think I had nothing to lose - to my amazement I got the job. I worked in Digital Signage Product Planning where I never felt like a student, but always a valued member of the team. I was given full autonomy for all my work and was even allowed to project manage competitor benchmarks against Sony's products. I was involved in all aspects of Product Planning, from attending conferences/exhibitions abroad, conducting market analysis, benchmarking, student recruitment, customer interfacing as well as PR...…the list continues.
