I would advise students to do extensive research about the university that they are looking to study at. This does not include the academic part, but also the surroundings, the social environment around campus and the city as a whole.
I needed to give the SAT exam as an entrance. I took counseling and it was helpful. I needed a VISA. The process was easy but I did prepare in advance. It was easy to buy the airline tickets. I usually fly via Emirates or Delta. The airline did not offer me student fare. The airport is 15 minutes by car from my university. 2 bags were allowed and I had to pay for excess baggage. I did not have any immigration issues. No Meet and Greet service was offered by my university.
Overall Iam happy with the way my course is structured, however there is room for improvement. As it is a quarter system at RIT, it sometimes gets very stressful and students do not have time to visit other cities. Professors are not necessarily understanding or helpful. Library is very good and is highly ranked in the USA.
I stay in student accommodation. It is moderately easy for int students to get on-campus jobs. The social scene is good. Night life does not exist. There is an international student society in my uni. They have special food festivals, dance parties and fares.
The environment, facilities and people are just so inviting. Travel to college is exceptionally easy, there are buses and trains within a 5-10 min walking distance. There are special offices within the college to help you with accomodation and job finding. The student union is fantastic, they really try and provide what the students need and are always creating and making events for students to attend as a way to socialize and get to know each other aswell as the staff.
