Having the opportunity to study here at the university of Melbourne has been a really great experience. Something I probably won’t forget for a while to come. However the one advise I’d give to someone who’s thinking about coming here is to be really serious about doing well as its really competitive here.
Getting in here can be a little tough as you will be required to score a pretty high TER or whatever foundation studies you’ve undertaken. But if that’s not a problem for you then you shouldn’t experience any other problems to get in as the visa application is relatively straight forward.
Scholarships are definitely available. I do know some people who are here on government scholarships but they are usually in courses like engineering and the like.
Study times are pretty flexible. That gives you more opportunities to really study on your own which is probably what being in Melbourne Uni is all about. The tutors are not all great, some of them lack the experience but generally they should be able to answer most questions.
Life in Melbourne is really great! It’s a beautiful cosmopolitan city and you’ve got entertainment pretty close to the university. Transportation can be expensive as there are no student concessions for international students. Accommodation is also pricey but if you’re not picky and willing to travel then you can find cheaper alternatives.
The opportunities for life after Melbourne Uni is pretty good as this uni is widely seen as a very good producer of good graduates.]]
