I can honestly say that if it wasn’t for SOAS, my experience in London would not be half as fulfilling as it is now. During my time at SOAS, I was given the freedom to explore and focus on the areas that most interested me, but also the resources to professionals and academics from a wide area of expertise, giving me the greatest exposure possible. The course served to be both holistic and specific.

My lecturers are well-established academics and enhance the lecturers with their own personal field experiences. Development Studies has given me an opportunity to gain a better understanding of pressing issues that affect the developing world today by placing them in a wider political cultural and historical context. We are taught to be critical and challenge existing paradigms during discussions and we cover a vast range of topics: from corruption in governments to refugee studies.

ratingYour life experience

Studying social anthropology here is challenging and interesting, and this year I am specialising in the region of my choice - South Asia. Representing SOAS at events as a student ambassador has been a great way to meet fellow students, and show others that despite our small size, we are culturally diverse and looking for ways to change the world.
