I did not have info about the courses and what courses were in demand and beneficial in finding part time job. I advise the students to see whether their course will help them find part time job and whether later will it help in getting residency or not. My life is busy as I have to balance my life between work, study and family.
I came through an agency. My visa took only 2 months but my passport took about 6 months. I came here with my wife and my agency arranged it for me.
The agency through which I came helped me in applying for student loan but I had to show some property and keep with them as security.
I am studying to become a graphic designer. This is a very creative course and it requires us to be creative. Also, we need a laptop with good configuration to do multi tasking and use latest softwares. The teachers some are good but some do not show much interest in really making the students understand, but some are very good teachers.
There is students association in our tafe, also we have internet, library, printing facilities. There is counseling provided for students for career developments or personal problems. Most of the students in our batch are Asians from china, japan, Malaysia, Pakistan, Nepal., india and sri lanka. Finding work is very hard. But Luckily I and my wife got work here very quickly. By working we are managing to pay our bills and live life nicely. Accommodation is not a big problem, because we can always find houses on the internet, university ads, flyers etc. We can choose the cheapest one.
I think diploma will help me get through to interviews but a student who has bachelors degree in the same field will have more chances. But still, I am confident that 6 months from now, I will get a part time job in my field. I have been making contacts with alumni students who have passed out and are working as designers. It is very helpful to keep in touch with them.
