I really like this university. It has beautiful park environment. There is a golf court and a lake with a fountain. I enjoy lying down on the grass reading book under the gentle sunshine and breezy wind. As far as I know, this university is a good and famous one and students from high school all want to come here. From my own experience, this uni is indeed a very good one. It is noticeably multicultural. There might be too many Asians here but they are friendly.
The process was pretty smooth. I did my last years of high school in Australia so I went in through HSC examination. So you need to know what mark is for your dream degree in Macquarie.(You can research this or get a copy of UAC Guide) Then the visa will come out after Macquarie has accepted you. Nothing difficult came on the way, really.
I know there are a lot of scholarship opportunities available in Macquarie. You can go to the website to check your eligibility. (http://www.mq.edu.au/) If you do extra well in your course, you may get a prize too (AUD$1000!).The university also give generous travel grant for people wanting to go exchange abroad or volunteer.
My course is good. There are many people doing it. It is one of the most famous course of the university. First weeks of uni, it was easy but as the weeks go, the difficulty level accelerates very fast. For every subject I took, I must finish 30-60pages of textbook in a week. (I felt like eating book and absorbing all those knowledge into my brain!) In my opinion, the reading was too much and I don't like that. Especially when it is exam period, all subjects exam days cramped together and you didn't have enough time to study. I suggest people to commit serious study if they want good results.
The campus opened one more computer lab recently. The computers are brand new and password controllable, which means you have to be a student to operate it. The internet is very fast. The campus is wireless covered. Around campus, there are places where you can sit down and plug in your laptop. You don't need to worry about running out of battery. There are a lot of events going on. Every week there is free barbeque. On Tuesdays you can enjoy great music and dancing from macquarie dance society in cafeteria. Some weeks there are exchange fair, graduate fair going on.
From what I heard, students graduate from Macquarie are highly sought after. Its accounting course, which i am doing currently, is recoqnised by accounting bodies such as CPA and CA.
