I have spent two years as an undergradate at the University of Texas at Austin, and have thoroughly enjoyed my time here. I love the city of Austin, and have met amazing people here. I've enjoyed most of my classes, and professors often make themselves very accessible to students.

Lectures can be very large or small, depending on the class and whether it's a lower-division class (large amount of students) or an upper-division class (smaller amount of students). There are multiple libraries available for studying. There are many computers available for use, but most students prefer to have their own computer available. The campus has wireless internet available for all students and the Internet is fast.

For accommodations, my first year I stayed at an off-campus dorm. I now stay at an apartment in West Campus. There are several main areas where students reside: campus, West Campus, North Campus, Riverside, and Far West. Campus housing is primarily for lower-division undergraduates--you share a room with a roommate and either have a private bathroom for your room or a community bathroom which you share with your floormates. On-campus housing is not the nicest accomodation, but it is the most convenient. West Campus is an area very close to campus, but the rents are not cheap. There are many off-campus dormitories in West Campus, but many older students choose to live in apartments. North Campus consists of apartments and houses with cheaper rents, but it is a bit further from campus. Riverside and Far West both require buses or cars to get to campus, but the rents are considerably cheaper, and many students prefer to live there. Transportation around Austin is easy, even if you don't have a car available. The UT Shuttle System is one of the largest (if not the largest) in the country to accomodate the many students/faculty commuting to campus. The city of Austin also has a large bus system to get you anwhere around Austin. There are a number of things to do in Austin. A favorite among college students is go downtown to 6th Street, the famous area for drinking and nightlife. Austin is also known for its outdoor activities, such as kayaking, canoeing, waterskiing, and cycling. No matter what time of day/night, there's always something to do. Austin's weather changes all the time. One day it might be sunny, and the next it may be cold. During the summer, the weather is very hot. In the winter, however, it can be very cold. Also, it rains a lot so rainboots/raincoat/umbrellas are necessary. There is an extremely large Indian population here, both American-born and Indian-born. There are also a large number of South Asian organizations, including the Indian Students Association, Indian Cultural Association, Hindu Students Council, Muslim Students Association, South Asian Health Professions Association, South Asian Business Association, Pratham, Asha Austin, Baal Dan, numerous South Asian Greek organizations (sororities and fraternities), and more.
