Hi guys I am Pankaj. I completed my grad studies at the Central Michigan University. It was a good program; I would recommend the university to other Indian students.
I had applied to eight universities. I had six admits and 2 rejects. I had to give GRE and TOEFL. The questions asked in my visa interview were about my undergraduate studies, about my family and about my finances. I was able to touch a soft chord with the Visa officer with her telling me not to sell my ancestral land to fund my education. The visa interview was smooth.
I did not have funding initially, my father was my sponsor. I showed his financial statements his liquid savings as a back up to obtain my visa. After I reached the US, I was able to develop a good understanding with my advisor and get some aid.
The primary difference between education in India and education in the US in my opinion is that fact that- In India the student chooses the university and there are more ways than one to get into that university. In the US however the university chooses you. That makes the process better and completely merit based.
CM has excellent research facilities for students intending to pursue their grad studies. The univ has very knowledgeable faculty who are always willing to help and state of the art academic support.
I cant stress how important your internship period is to enhance your employment prospects. Usually the organization in which you intern absorbs you. Network ..that always helps!
