I thoroughly enjoyed the campus as it was positioned in Melbourne's heart of the city. This meant that when the going went tough I was able to walk outside and enter into shops to de-stress. Monash university has an excellent online facility catering for wireless internet also. This has meant that I am able to save time by checking my emails and doing my banking during lecture breaks without the stress of paying for internet at home or elsewhere.
Nothing in life is easy but you should always give it a go despite believing that you may not be smart enough! The selection process required for my course was an entrance examination plus an interview. For the exam it was a general knowledge type exam so there was not muc preparation required for this. All I say is to eat a great breakfast prior so that your sugar levels are kept high throughout the exam. For an interview image is important and is punctuality...don't arrive late...this gives a very bad impression! I suggest that you should always ast yourself and be as truthful as possible. You never know what an interview board is wanting in their students. It was not the easiest place to be awarded but persistence paid off. Never loose sight of the dream of where you want to be after you complete the degree.
There were not many scholarships available initially however if you received top marks you were entititled to apply for scholarships. The scholarships were not advertised. Generally at Monash University you need to explore their web site to discover what is offerred. So this left me with the knowledge that I was to pay for the course via financial assistance. Generally with my course everyone is given this opportunity.
My course is direct towards the mature age student. For this reason It provides a great learning experience where everyone comes together for the same purpose. I enjoy the fact that a lecture is taken serious with no silly interuptions as was the case in my undergraduate degree. I love the classy and warm feel about the city law campus and the fact that coffee and tea facilities are available at no extra cost. This makes me feel welcomed and ready to learn and interact with other peers. The subjects studies and so practical. It is worth paying for a course knowing that this information will actually be used in the near future rather than sitting through subjects which are unhelpful. The course content is directed at a specific focal point that is to aid students in their careers rather than embarking on knowledge that is worthless. In terms of the lecturers naturally there are some great ones and some not so great ones. However I believe this is purely based on personality conflicts and what type of person I learn better from. They generally are extremely professional and steer away from favourite students and prejudice. Honestly whilst the course is excellent it is quite expensive. I do not understand why courses need to be so high! Should there not be more incentives to students who want to better themselves and make a better living for oneself? I encourage anyone to embark on the same path as mine however I do urge students to look at the amount they spend per subject. This might encourage them to avoud failing a course and achieve better grades!
Part-time work is present anywhere and everywhere! One just needs to open their eyes and be willing to work. I love the area of the uni. This is my most favourite part of the course. It is situated in the business area of Melbourne so it encourages you to study hard by inspiring you of where you want to be after you finish the course. I previously mentioned the facilities are excellent. However I would suggest that more toilets be put in because there tends to be a wait during class breaks. I am quite fortunate I still live at home so there is no need to pay rent at the moment.
My job prospects have multiplied significantly whilst studying and therefore I know that on completion of the course they will be more than sufficient.
