When I first enrolled on the Exeter University MBA programme in September 2005, little did I know how much it would change my life.. I hoped something positive may come out of it, but in the end a lot more resulted than I dreamt would have been possible.
I attended the course part time over 3 years, while working at the Met Office as Corporate Planning Manager. I specialised half way through into Finance: covering Corporate Finance, International Finance, and Advanced Investment Analysis. I found these so fascinating, that in my final year I started looking around for possible financial jobs.
The MBA provided three critical components: Concepts, Vocabulary, and Confidence. But the greatest of these is Confidence.
Wanting to live and work in the south-west rather restricted my options, but in the end I landed the perfect job at Ernst & Young, Exeter, in their Renewable Energy group. I am now part of a team offering financial and strategic advisory services for Renewable Energy projects and companies. The team is spread between London, Bristol, and Exeter and services clients across the globe.
