It was a memorable experience.
Only reference letters were needed for my admit to Utah. But I needed a visa and the visa interview was a cake walk. It was easy to get the airline tickets, I flew Lufthansa. The service was excellent...though it did not offer any student fare neither was extra baggage allowed. I landed at Philadelphia. The university representatives were there to pick me up from the airport. Faced no immigration issues at the port of entry.
The academic program was structured very well. The professor under whom I worked was excellent, I learnt a lot from him in terms of work ethics. The research environment was excellent. On the whole, it was a good learning experience. I had access to the library, it is a fantastic place with so many facilities for the students. I didnt have to attend any lectures.
I lived in private apartments. The social life and night life was good...though I didnt have much time for all that.
