I had done a lot of research on the web and I found the work going on in the media, net and secure systems at Stony Brook to be really interesting. I had also mailed a Prof at the university and he replied back with a positive and encouraging reply. This made me decide on Stony Brook. I had applied to 5 universities and got admits from all the 5, but selected Stony Brook mainly bcoz of the chance to work with the Prof whose research interest matched mine.
I did my internship at the HP Research Labs, Bangalore. Some good work experience always does the trick with the VOs. There was no problems with my visa process. Sometimes the VO can be really irritating and boorish we have to just maintain our cool and answer confidently. When they ask u about your future plans, stress on the fact that you would get back to India and get yourself a good job. All the best.
The program had a practical and flexible approach. Great
There are very good openings in the research labs google labs or Microsoft research or HP research labs offer very good positions for a CS grad with an international degree.
